In Bihar, a central team of experts from the Agriculture Ministry is assessing the drought situation in the 28 rain deficient districts of the State. The state Agriculture Minister Renu Kumari said, the team made an on the spot study in Vaishali, Begusarai, Sitamarhi and other districts and took the stock of the damages caused to farmers. They also discussed relief measures with the district officials. She said, the Magadh and Patna divisions were the worst affected by drought as the water table had declined to precariously low levels. The Central team visit to Bihar follows the submission of a memorandum by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to the Prime minister on Sunday demanding financial assistance to tackle the crisis.
