A high level Central team headed by Union Cabinet Secretary Mr. Ajit Kumar Seth arrived in Srinagar on a two day visit on Sunday to take stock of the prevailing development and security scenario besides implementation of several centrally sponsored schemes and 2,000 crore rupee job plan for the youth of the State rolled out by the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council earlier this year. Soon after his arrival, Cabinet Secretary called on J&K Governor Mr. N. N. Vohra, at Rajbhawan Srinagar and discussed with him various issues relating to the implementation of the ongoing flagship development programmes and welfare schemes. According to Rajbhawan sources during an hour and a half long meeting, the Governor and the Cabinet Secretary discussed matters relating to internal and external security management and issues relating to the implementation of current year’s Annual Plan, the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan, Centrally-Sponsored schemes and other major infrastructure development projects. Considerable attention was devoted to discussing the time frame within which 3 tier Panchayati Raj institutions would be established in the State. They also discussed issues relating to hydel power development; Kashmir Railway Project, particularly to link Qazigund with the new 11 kilometre tunnel across the Pir Panjal; 4- laning Project of the National Highway; growth of agriculture and its allied sectors and certain other key areas. The Governor emphasized the need for constant monitoring to secure the time-bound completion of all the important development projects for ensuring against any delay in the benefits of various schemes reaching the people.
