In the Kashmir Valley , the Cabinet Secretary on Monday presided over a joint meeting of the Central Secretaries and the State Administration Secretaries at Srinagar . The meeting discussed the status of Centrally Sponsored schemes and flagship programmes.The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the need to complete the physical and financial targets on time.The meeting discussed the progress in education, power, health, tourism, roads, railways, agriculture, horticulture and industries.In addition to this, the protection of environment, pollution control, afforestation and panchayat raj system was also discussed in the meeting.Earlier, the Cabinet Secreatary met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and discussed with him the flagship progammes and other developmental and welfare schemes.Chief Minister assured him that the elections to the local bodies will be held in the current financial year so that the powers are delegated to the grass-root level in the state.
