Government today announced a package of 3884 crore rupees for the weavers across the country.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, the Commerce Minister Anand Sharma said that a decision to this effect was taken in the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA, last evening.

He said it will benefit 13 lakh weavers across the country. They include 3 lakh weavers from Uttar Pradesh.

The Minister said, CCEA also approved Credit Card for Weavers and Government Credit Guarantee for them.

This will go a long way in addressing the concerns of distressed weavers.
