Central govt has no plan to impose any tax on agriculture income: Jaitely

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has categorically stated that the Central Government has no plan to impose any tax on agriculture income. In a statement, Mr Jaitley said, he has read the paragraph in Niti Aayog's Report entitled 'Income tax on agriculture income'. <br/><br/>Obviating any confusion on the subject, the Minister said, as per the Constitutional Allocation of Powers, the Central Government has no jurisdiction to impose tax on agricultural income.<br/> '<br/>Meanwhile, NITI Aayog has termed the views of its member Bibek Debroy on taxing agriculture income as personal. In a statement, the Aayog said, this is neither the view of the Aayog nor is such a recommendation made anywhere in the Draft Action Agenda document as circulated to the Governing Council at the meeting on 23rd of this month.
