The Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment released an amount of over 155 crore rupees to the Government of West Bengal, as central assistance for this fiscal under the centrally sponsored scheme of Post-Matric Scholarships to students belonging to scheduled castes.According to an official release, the Scholarship Scheme for SC students provides 100 percent Central assistance to States over and above their committed liability, for providing financial assistance to SC students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. The financial assistance includes maintenance allowance, reimbursement of non-refundable compulsory fee, Book Bank facility and other allowances.
