The Center has decided to implement the Track Child Project across the country to track the missing children. Under the project, a child tracking system will put in place to maintain the real time data of all children availing rehabilitation services under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme. Earlier the project was only being implemented in West Bengal, Gujrat and Delhi on a pilot basis. Informing this in New Delhi, the Women and Child Development Secretary, Prem Narain said that the decision has been taken in the view of a large number of children go missing each year in the country due to various reasons including trafficking for labour, sexual exploitation and begging. He said that the ministry has also written a letter to all the state governments to appoint a nodal officer for implementation of the project.
