The Center has approved construction of roads and bridges worth 354 crore rupees in different parts of Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. These include construction of 105 link roads and 29 bridges in rural areas. Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh sent a letter to the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in this regard on Saturday. He said under phase II of the scheme, Center is willing to sanction funds for 2620 km road construction in Maharashtra and asked the state government to send its proposals as soon as possible to get clearance by next month.
