Center allocates Rs 14 hundred Cr. under NHM to various states

The Center has allocated around 14 hundred crore rupees in the current financial year to various states under National Horticulture Mission,NHM. The goal of the mission is to give impetus to encourage cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers and spices. It also aims at making available horticultural produce, improving economic condition of farmers and increasing exports. Central government contributes 85 percent of total outlay while 15 percent is contributed by State Governments in this scheme. The Center has so far released around 6 thousands crore rupees to states as financial assistance under NHM since the year 2005 to 2012. Our correspondent reports that a total of 372 districts are covered under the scheme in 17 States and Union Territories.
