States are being advised to grant liberal assistance to those affected by anti sikh riots in 1984. The Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram told Rajya Sabha that Delhi government has already been sounded about it and similar requests will be sent to other states where the victims of anti sikh riots are living. Replying supplementary in the House, he made it clear that the compensation is being given as per the guidelines prepared and these guidelines are in place after taking the concern states on board. He said two thousand seven hundred thirty three persons were killed in anti sikh riots in Delhi. The figures are based on the report of Ahooja committee appointed by Delhi government. An amount of over 154 crore rupees have been distributed as compensation among the victims in Delhi.
