The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India Dr C Chandramouli appealed to the countrymen for giving correct information to the enumerators he said that throughout the country 27 lakh enumerators have been engaged for the massive activity of census to be started from February 9 till February 28, who will cover 6 lakh 40 thousand villages, 8 thousand towns and 33 capital cities in the country. He further said that nearly one lakh enumerators and supervisors have been deployed in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. He informed that 54 lakh instruction manuals have been prepared in 18 languages for the census activity.Dr Chandramouli said that the whole task will be completed in three weeks and provisional results on key items like population by sex,growth rate, child population, literacy, sex ratio etc will be made available in another three weeks time by the end of March. He said that the whole task is being done at the expenditure of 2200 crore rupees which is lesser than other world census projects. He said that the census data is kept confidential and no personal information is revealed to anybody.
