According to census 2011 report, in Kerala the present population is 3,33,87,677. As in previous census, women outnumber men in Kerala. Latest figures indicate that there are 1,73,66,387 women and 1,60,21,290 men. During the last ten years Kerala's population has increased just by 4.86 per cent whereas the rate of increase was 9.43 percent ten years ago.According to the latest census report released today at Thiruvananthapuram, the male female ratio of the state is 1084 with the highest in Kannur with 1133 and lowest in Idukki district with 1006 women for every 1000 men. In Kerala, 9.95 per cent of the total population is children upto the age of six with their number touching 33,22,247. The female-male child ratio of the state is 959.The capital district of Thiruvananthapuram has the maximum density of population with 1509 people per sq.km and Idukki is the least densely populated disctrict of Kerala with 254 people in one sq.km . With the highest literacy rate in the country the state has 93.91 per cent literate people. Female literacy rate is 91.98 per cent.
