The Government said in spite of the recent global recession, the cement industry has a remarkable record growth of around 8% in last two fiscal years. Speaking at inaugural session of the Eleventh International Seminar on Cement and Building Materials in New Delhi on Tuesday, Minister of state for Commerce and Industry Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia said in current year so far the pace of growth of cement industry has accelerated significantly in double digits. He also said that industry deserves commendation for its long-standing efforts towards reduction its carbon footprint by adopting the best technologies and manufacturing practices. He said that the industry had a substantial drop of CO2 emission from 1.12 to 0.82 tonnes per tonnes of cement production in last decade. The Minister emphasize on modernization of construction industry.
