A separate Telangana state has come into existence as the 29th state of the Indian Union.
The decades-old dream of the people of Telangana was fulfilled at the stroke of midnight last night. The President's rule imposed in united Andhra Pradesh would be revoked partially today to facilitate the swearing-in of the TRS government in the newly-created Telangana.
TRS President K. Chandrasekhara Rao sworn-in as the first Chief Minister of Telangana this morning. Elaborate arrangements have been made at the lawns of the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad for the same.
Before that, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan will be sworn-in as the Governor of Telangana state. He will be the Governor for both Telangana and the residual Andhra Pradesh.
After the swearing in ceremony, Chandrasekhara Rao will address the people of Telangana from the historic Parade Grounds and kick-start the week-long official celebrations.
People began celebrating the formation of Telangana state since last evening with dazzling display of fireworks and by distributing sweets in Hyderabad and other parts of the newly formed state. AIR correspondent reports that the slogans and songs in praise of the sacrifices made by the unsung Telangana heroes echoed the entire region.
In the residual Andhra Pradesh, the President's rule would continue until TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu takes charge as Chief Minister, which is likely on June 8.
