Celebration of 2 day annual 'Dosmochey Festival' at Leh and Liker starts with religious fervor

Dosmochey is Buddhist monastic annual major festival with performance of sacred mask dances by monks in the name of different deities and prayers and rituals.</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Liker Dosmochey Festival is the biggest annual prayer of the Liker Monastery, which is one of the 16 Major Monasteries in Ladakh and belongs to Yellow sect of Mahayana Buddhism.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Whereas the Leh Dosmochey, being celebrated in Leh city, which used to be the annual prayer of Ladakhi King, is now organised by the Leh villagers.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">The mask dances and rituals of the festival are performed on turn basis by the different Monasteries of Ladakh.</span></p>
