Celebrated Filmmakers attending the ongoing International Film Festival at Panaji have called for establishing a platform to ensure meaningful regional films have a pan India audience. Speaking at the launch of a special section devoted to celebrate the platinum jubilee of Assamese cinema, acclaimed filmmaker from Assam Mr. Jahnu Barua lamented on the shrinking market for regional cinema and said the government should step in to promote regional films. In an interview to our correspondent covering the festival Mr. Barua recalled the contributions of stalwarts who had laid the foundation for a cinema culture in the east.<br/>
