CEC: No case can be made out against Rahul on charge of violating voting secrecy

Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath today said that no case can be made out against Rahul Gandhi on the charge of violating voting secrecy. Mr Gandhi was accused of entering voting compartments on the day of polling in Amethi and was reported to have interfered with Electronic Voting Machines.

Talking to a news agency in New Delhi, Mr Sampath said, there are no differences in the Commission over decisions either on Varanasi rally of BJP or any other issue. He said all decisions have been taken collectively and Election Commissioner H S Brahma was part of the decision making process.

Brahma had yesterday rued that decisions on permission to BJP for a rally in Varansai could have been taken promptly. The CEC also dismissed BJP's charge of timidity against it.
