The Chief Election Commissioner Dr. SY Quraishi and two Election Commissioners, V S Sampat and H S Brahma will be reaching Lucknow this afternoon to assess the poll arrangements for the ensuing forthcoming Assembly elections in the state next year.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that they will be meeting top state officials and representatives of all the recognised political parties at the state capital during their two-day stay. Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Quraishi and two other Election Commissioners will be meeting representatives of the recognised political parties at Raj Bhawan this evening. The Commission would hold review meetings in connection with poll preparedness with all Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates tomorrow. The full Commission will also hold meeting with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Home and the Director General of Police on this day separately.Major political parties of the state have said that they would raise issue of transfer and posting of officials in view of the forthcoming elections. State Congress has said that its delegation would raise issue of incomplete and faulty voters list seeking random checking of the lists. Main opposition Samajwadi Party has also said that its delegation meeting with the Election Commissioners would raise issue of inclusion of bogus voters in the lists and issuance of advertisement by the state government on the eve of Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that it would mention malpractices adopted by the state government during Panchayat elections and demand deployment of central government officials as poll personnel in maximum numbers. Meanwhile, the Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Jutsi has reviewed functioning of voter’s registration centres and preparation of photo voters lists with Chief Electoral Officer of the state. He has also visited few voters’ registration centres in Lucknow with district electoral officer.
