Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda today said CCTV cameras will be installed in running trains in a phased manner to improve women's safety on board.
Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said the Government will take all steps to improve security in running trains especially for women on metro trains in Mumbai.
The Minister also said over 3300 murders, 468 rapes and over 1500 dacoities have been reported since 2000.
Stating that the government is taking all measures to improve security for women on trains, he said 4,000 women RPF personnel will be recruited for
providing escort to women-passenger coaches.
