The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs today took stock of the situation in Andhra Pradesh on Telangana issue. The meeting which lasted more than an hour this evening is understood to have discussed the political crisis over the issue. Earlier there was uproar in Lok Sabha leading to 15 minute adjournement when the matter was raised during zero hour with TDP members raising slogans for a united Andhra Pradesh. They were joined by some Congress MPs including Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of former Chief Minister of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. However, the Congress members belonging to Telangana region strongly objected to it . The issue was also raised in the Rajya Sabha during Zero Hour by BJP's Venkaiah Naidu who alleged that the centre was playing with the sentiments of the people of Andhra Pradesh.Blaming the TDP and its chief N Chandrababu Naidu for the current situation in the state, Jaganmohan later clarified that he was forced to exhibit his support for a united state in Lok Sabha today as he did not want TDP alone to take the credit for supporting a unified Andhra. However Congress MPs from Telangana region who later met Defence Minister Mr A K Antony sought action against Jaganmohan Reddy for joining TDP in Lok Sabha in opposing separate Telangana state .Meanwhile, the agitation supporting the Unified State has got intensified in Rayalaseema and Coasta regions today, even as the State Cabinet has resolved to stand united during the present political crisis surfaced in the state. The Cabinet that met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah has discussed the present situation in length and decided to observe restraint and to reduce the tensions among the regions. Information Minister Geetha Reddy later told reporters that all the Ministers resolved to strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister to tide over the crisis and resignation proposal had been withdrawn by Ministers.On the other hand, making their stand harder for the unified state, the MLAs belonged to Rayalaseema and Coasta regions across the party lines and those who tendered their resignations have called on the Governor N D Tiwari and urged him to help resolving the issue. They have also pressed on the Speaker for accepting their resignations. Meanwhile, Lok Sabah Member L Rajagopal has begun fast unto death in support of the Unified state in Vijayawada after police shifted him from Hyderabad as a preventive measure to maintain tranquillity in the capital city. He began his fast at the Swarajya grounds in Vijayawada even as supporters across the board extended solidarity.Meanwhile, hectic political parleys across the party lines are underway even as the agitation got intensified in Rayalseema and Coasts regions today.
