A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs is being held this evening in the backdrop of the row over the Telangana issue. Earlier in the day the Lok Sabha was adjourned for about 15 minutes following uproar over Telangana issue during zero hour with TDP members raising slogans for a united Andhra Pradesh. They were joined by some Congress MPs including Jaganmohan Reddy, son of former Chief Minister of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. However, the Congress members belonging to Telangana region strongly objected to it and started sloganeering in favour of statehood for Telangana region. The issue was also raised in the Rajya Sabha during Zero Hour by BJP's Venkaiah Naidu. He alleged that the centre was playing with the sentiments of the people of Andhra Pradesh.Later breaking his silence on the Telangana issue, Jaganmohan Reddy today said he stands for a united Andhra Pradesh and alleged that TDP and its chief N Chandrababu Naidu were responsible for the current situation in the state. Jaganmohan also clarified that he was forced to exhibit his support for a united state in Lok Sabha today as he did not want TDP alone to take the credit for supporting a unified Andhra. However taking objection to it , Congress MPs from Telangana region met Defence Minister Mr A K Antony and sought action against Jaganmohan Reddy for joining TDP in Lok Sabha in opposing separate Telangana state .In Andhra Pradesh itself the agitation supporting the Unified State has intensified in Rayalaseema and Coastal regions even as the political uncertainty is continuing over Telangana issue. State Cabinet is meeting this evening with the ministers softening their stand on their proposed resignations.
