The Cabinet committee on infrastructure, CCI has approved 24 on-going and fresh projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM) for Delhi with an estimated cost of over 5 thousand crore rupees for the next year Commonwealth Games. <br/><br/>According to official sources, the CCI also accorded approval for the purchase of 1,500 buses at an estimated cost of Rs 765.75 crore with retrospective effect as the Government had placed purchase orders in advance. However, in this case, the CCI had to consider and accord sanctions as the Delhi Government had to be exempted from some of the reforms and procedural requirements, in view of the fact that land as a subject was not within the jurisdiction of the State Government, and due to urgency of the Games.
