CCI clears three four lane national highways projects

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, CCI, today cleared three projects on four-laning of national highways in West Bengal and one in Haryana. The 103 kilometre Farakka-Raiganj section,102 kilometres Behrampur-Farakka section and 78 kilometre Krishna Nagar-Behrampur are on the National Highway-34 which is the lifeline not only for North-South Road transport in West Bengal but connects to the North eastern states and neighouring countries such as Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. <br/>AIR correspondent says that the traffic on this National Highway likely to increase substantially with the implementation of South Asia Free Trade Agreement, SAFTA, among SAARC countries.<br/>Four laning of over 80 kilometre long section of Rohtak-Panipat in Haryana and the upgradation of 60 kilometre stretch of Hajipur-Muzaffarpur section in Bihar was also approved by the CCI. <br/>
