The Cabinet Committee on Investment-CCI directed the defence and Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministries to resolve issues in one month relating to the exploration and production activities in 39 New Exploration Licensing Policy-NELP oil and gas blocks. The first meeting of the newly formed CCI was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi after the meeting last evening, the Information and Broadcasting Minister Mr. Manish Tewari said that there were certain areas identified where Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been tasked with responsibility of sitting down with the Defence Ministry in resolving some of the problems. He said specific timelines have been fixed and both the Ministries have been asked to come back to CCI within one month.

Our correspondent reports that the CCI, which was constituted to expedite the clearance for infrastructure projects of one thousand crore rupees or more.
