The Cabinet committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval for raising the funding pattern for the implementation of Right to Education and also given its nod for revising the existing norms of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme to conform with the Right to Education. The Centre's share in the funding for the implementation of Right to Education will be 65 percent and the remaining 35 percent will be borne by the states. At present the funding pattern is in the ratio of 55 is to 45. For the north east the funding pattern will be in the ratio of 90:10. Briefing media on the CCEA decisions, the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram said that in the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidalayas, two sets of uniforms costing four hundred rupees each will be given for the girls belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and BPL families. 80 crore rupees will be spent annually for the purpose.
