CCEA extends production subsidy to sugar mills to achieve export target

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has decided to extend production subsidy to sugar mills to achieve expected performance in respect of export of sugar and supply of ethanol. <br/><br/>An official release said, this has been done to offset cost of cane and facilitate timely payment of cane price dues of farmers. It said, due to drought situation, there has been significant decline of about 1.8 million tonne production in sugarcane and 0.8 million production in sugar. <br/><br/>Drought affected States have been requested to reduce the target of sugar export and ethanol supply due to non-availability of sufficient sugarcane and molasses.<br/><br/>The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA today approved upgradation of 13 existing government Medical Colleges and Institutes under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. <br/><br/>The upgradation will involve an expenditure of 200 crore rupees for each government Medical College and Institute. The total upgradation cost will be Rs 2,600 crore, out of which Central share will be 1,560 crore rupees and States Rs 1,040 crore .
