The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA) has approved six laning of the Jalandhar-Amritsar section of National Highway-1 under the National Highways Development Project – II.
Under the project, around 20 kilometers road will be constructed on Engineering, Procurement and Construction basis at an estimated cost of about 524 crore rupees.
AIR correspondent reports that the project will expedite improvement of infrastructure in Punjab and also reduce the time and travel cost between Jalandhar and Amritsar. Development of this stretch will also help in uplifting the socio-economic condition of this region besides increasing employment potential for local labourers.
