CCEA clears proposal for modernization & computerization of all Post offices in country

The CCEA has cleared a proposal of 4,909 crore rupees for modernization and computerization of all Post offices in the country to improve the delivery of mail, banking and insurance services rendered by the Post offices.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA, has also approved the Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry’s proposal to extend the ongoing scheme of Integrated Low Cost Sanitation into the 12th Five Year Plan.

The Centre will extend financial support to State Governments for total eradication of dry latrines from urban areas at an estimated cost of 481 crore rupees. Of the total cost, the central share would be 367 crore rupees and the rest will be borne by the State Governments.

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) has approved the Railway Ministry’s proposal for a policy framework for private participation in rail connectivity and capacity augmentation projects to facilitate speedy execution of rail connectivity projects, boost economic growth, generate employment and also significantly enhance freight traffic of railways.
