The government has asked the Petroleum Ministry to ensure that Oil marketing companies sell petrol blended with 5 per cent Ethnol. Briefing media on the CCEA meeting in New Delhi today the Home Minister Mr. P Chidambaram said a group will be constituted to ensure that there is no supply dislocation of ethanol. 5 percent blending with Ethnol had been mandatory in 2006. The CCEA has also authorised ONGC Videsh Limited OVL to make an additional investment of 70 million US dollars for a project in oil and gas Block in Brazil. An empowered panel can also approve an addtional cash of 17.5 million dollars if needed .The additional investment will provide scope for the OVL to get more production from the project and will ultimately help in increasing energy security.
