CCEA approves three major highway projects

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval to three major highway projects. Briefing media in Delhi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said government has given its nod to the four laning of 80 kilometre long Phagwara-Rupnagar Section of NH-344A in Punjab at a cost of 1444 crore rupees in Hybrid Annuity Mode. It has also approved four-laning of 151 kilometre Angul-Sambalpur Section of NH-42, which is the New NH-55 in Odisha.<br/><br/>The project will cost around 2500 crore rupees.Besides, four laning of 87 kilometre Aurangabad-Telwadi section of NH-211 in Maharashtra has also been approved at an estimated cost of over 2028 crore rupees. Prime Minister Narendra said that the CCEA approval of road projects will help improve the infrastructure and connectivity in the states.In a series of tweets, he said, the projects will also help uplifting the socio-economic condition of the regions. <br/><br/>Cabinet has considered the Model Shops and Establishment (Regulation of Emp and Conditions of Service) Bill 2016. This Bill will now be sent to the states and Union Territories. The states will have to modify their Acts, either by adopting Centre's Bill or modifying its provisions as per their requirements. The Bill will cover establishments employing ten or more workers except manufacturing units.
