The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the development of 4 and 6 laning of Kharar-Ludhiana Section of NH-95 in Punjab. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. <br/><br/>The cost is estimated to be around 2069 crore rupees including cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The total length of the road to be developed is approximately 76 kilometres.<br/><br/> The project will help in expediting the improvement of infrastructure in Punjab and in reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying between Kharar and Ludhiana section. <br/><br/>The development of this stretch will increase employment potential for local labourers for project activities. It has been estimated that a total number of over four thousand man-days are required for construction of one kilometre of highway.
