The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA, has approved a proposal to set up an Information Technology Investment Region, ITIR, near Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said, the total investment will be about 2.19 lakh crore rupees. Mr Tewari said, the major investment will be from Public-Private Partnerships. The ITIR is aimed at developing into a key industrial region Information and Technology, Information Technology Enabled Services and Electronic Hardware manufacturing sectors. It is expected to generate direct employment of 14.8 lakh and indirect employment of 55.9 lakh.
