CCEA approves HRD proposal for FDI in Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal of Ministry of Human Resource Development for mobilization of external funds in the form of FDI totalling 3315 crore Rupees approximately for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) for the project implementation period 2012-2016. An official release says that the additional financing from the external agencies will bridge the
requirement of additional funds to the some extent.

Besides funds it will bring in technical expertise to the programme. The students,their parents, teachers, headmasters will be the direct beneficiaries of the effective implementation of the scheme. The benefit will also accrue to academicians, training institutions and non-profit organizations working for education.

Our correspondent reports that the programme is being implemented in all States and Union Territories. Since universalisation of elementary education has become a Constitutional mandate, in the form of Right to Education, it is absolutely essential to push this vision forward to move towards universalisation of secondary education.
