CBSE to discontinue practice of re-evaluation of answer sheets from 2017

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue the provision of re-evaluation of answer sheets from next year. CBSE Chairperson RK Chaturvedi said, there are often reports of violation against schools and there is a view that the Board needs more teeth to enforce the by-laws.

Officials of the Board told media in New Delhi that since 2014, re-evaluation of answer sheets was done in around 10 subjects for class XII examinations. However, the actual number of students who applied for re-evaluation was only around 1.8 per cent and the number of beneficiaries even less.

The officials said, some system will still be in place for redress of genuine cases. They added that soon students will be able to get digital copies of their certificates. The officials said, records of various schools are also being digitised and they have been asked to put data related to them on their websites.

The officials also said, they are planning to hold online examinations for the next Central Teachers Eligibility Test.
