CBI to study Supreme Court's order in Uphaar case

The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, will study the order of the Supreme Court in the Uphaar case. Official sources said, the agency may take a call on filing of review petition after going through the judgment. Earlier, the apex court declined CBI plea for an opportunity to advance arguments on points left out in Uphaar fire tragedy case. The court asked CBI to file a review plea in the case. <br/><br/>Yesterday, the Supreme Court had ruled that Ansal brothers, convicts in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy, will not be sent to the jail. However, the court imposed a fine of 60 crores rupees on them. The real estate barons – Gopal and Sushil Ansal were convicted in 2014. 59 people, trapped in the balcony of the theatre, died of asphyxia following the fire and over 100 were injured in the subsequent stampede on the 13th of June, 1997.
