A team of CBI headed by a Special Director and Joint Secretary (North East), of Union Home Ministry has reached Guwahati today to enquire about the incidents of violence in Kokrajhar, Dhubri and Chirang districts of Assam. They held discussions with senior Assam Police officials regarding 309 cases that were referred to the investigating agency by the state government.
Meanwhile, no untoward incident has been reported in the last 48 hours. District administration relaxed curfew today in Chirang district for 10 hours from 6am to 4pm. In Kokrajhar district curfew has been relaxed from 8am to 6pm. District administration also relaxed curfew in Dhubri town for 17 hours from 8 am and in Bilasipara subdivision, it is from 8am to 10 pm. Strict vigil is on in the violence hit areas to maintain law and order situation.
So far Assam police arrested 175 miscreants for indulging in violence activities. Efforts are on to seize all illegal arms in the violence hit districts. So far 1 lakh 42 thousand people left relief camps to their villages. 22 people have died in relief camps.
