A CBI team headed by a special Director on Thursday began a probe into the incidents of violence in Kokhrajhar, Dhubri and Chirang districts of Assam.

The team which reached Guwahati Thursday morning held discussions with the Director General of Police.

The team was told that 309 cases have been registered and referred for investigation for indulging in violence.

A team of Human Rights Commission has completed a three day visit to the affected areas.

On Thursday, the members of the team held discussions with top state government officials.

The death toll into the violence incident has been reached to 75.

AIR Guwahati correspondent reports that the situation is improving in the violence hit areas and no untoward incident has been reported from anywhere.
