In Uttar Pradesh, the CBI has taken over the investigation into alleged irregularities in the 1,500 crore rupees Gomti river front development project in Lucknow. It has registered an FIR against the then chief engineers, the then superintendent engineers and an executive engineer. <br/><br/>Earlier, the State government had recommended CBI investigation into the irregularities committed with a criminal intent in the implementation of the Gomti River Channelization Project and the Gomti River Front Development by the state's Department of Irrigation during previous Samajwadi Party regime. <br/><br/>The inquiry constituted by the government into the beautification project of Gomti river front had indicated prima facie irregularities in the project. The state police had registered the case in June this year on the basis of the report.
