CBI takes over Ambulance scam case in Rajasthan

CBI today registered the case in the ambulance scam in Rajasthan against the directors of a private firm and public servant for alleged irregularities in the award of tender in favour of the firm by deliberately inserting technical specification. The agencies conducted Searches at the offices of said firm at Mumbai and Jaipur. CBI sources said, the agency took over the probe from Rajasthan Police after a formal notification was issued by the state government. <br/><br/>Rajasthan Police's had filed an FIR, in June last year naming former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress leader Sachin Pilot and sons of senior Congress leaders Vayalar Ravi and P Chidambaram.<br/><br/>Rajasthan Police had claimed that the irregularities in the implementation of the project included excess bills claimed by the firm and paid to them and an alleged financial irregularities to the tune of 2.56 crore rupees in operating the ambulance service during the previous Congress rule.
