CBI seeks custody of Jagan Reddy

The CBI has sought custody of Kadapa Lok Sabha member Y S Jagnamohan Reddy in its petition before the CBI special court in Hyderabad. The YSR Congress party President has been arrested last evening in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case against him. Producing him before the CBI Special Court this morning, the CBI said Jaganmohan Reddy has not cooperated for the investigation.

Meanwhile, the CBI Special Court has extended till 30th of this month the remand of industrialist Prasad and Senior Officer Brahmananda Reddy, whose remand came to an end yesterday. The Court also sanctioned bail to 11 persons whom the CBI named in its first charge sheet filed August last year in the case.

The arguments are over about Jaganmohan Reddy’s custody petition in the CBI Special Court in Hyderabad . The court is likely to give its orders in the afternoon. The Central Investigating Agency has sought 14-day custody of Jaganmohan Reddy during its arguments.

The advocates of CBI argued that the YSR Congress party President, who was arrested last evening after interrogation for about 25 hours in three consecutive days, has not cooperated during questioning. In turn, Jaganmohan Reddy’s advocates argued that the arrest it self is illegal as he was to appear before the court today and the custody should not be given as he is cooperating for the interrogation.

The court orders are pending and likely to be issued this afternoon. Meanwhile, a state Bandh is being observed today in response to the call given by the YSR Congress party protesting against the arrest of its President Jaganmohan Reddy in his assets case.

The bandh received mixed response in various regions of the state while in Hyderabad , normal life remained unaffected amidst tight security arrangements.
