Central Bureau of Investigation has turned down Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah's request for more time to appear before it in Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.The lawyers of Amit Shah are now looking into the option of seeking anticipatory bail.Earlier in the day, Amit Shah sought more time for appearing before CBI. Advocate of Amit Shah, Mr. Mitesh Amin told the media persons that as the case is very old, Shah have asked more time and details of questions to be asked during the interrogation.The BJP accused the government of misusing the CBI to harass the Opposition.Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Friday, the senior party leader Mrs. Sushma Swaraj alleged that the summons by the CBI to question Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Encounter case is the latest in the series of cases of misuse of the CBI.Mr. Arun Jaitely who also addressed the press alleged that the government has misused the CBI to time the summons in a manner that will be politically convenient to the ruling UPA. They said that the CBI summons have vitiated the atmosphere and therefore the party had decided not to attend the customary lunch with the Prime Minister today before the Monsoon session of Parliament.Mrs. Swaraj said that the Prime Minister's office and the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee were informed in this regard.Earlier, the top brass of the BJP met at Mr. L.K. Advani's residence to discuss the party's strategy in the wake of CBI's scheduled questioning of Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Encounter case.
