In Karnataka, a CBI team led by Superintendent of Police, Subramanya Rao raided the residences and offices of mine owners in Bellary on Monday. The residence and offices of Kudigi MLA Nagendra were among those raided today. Nagendra is a close associate of former Tourism Minister J. Janardhan Reddy.

The Associate Mining Company and Deccan Mining Syndicate are other companies whose owners faced CBI raid. Associated Mining Company is owned by Janardhan Reddy's wife.

AIR Correspondent adds that the raids conducted today are in the background of the Supreme Court's direction to CBI to investigate against mine owners named in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining and Central Empowerment Committee findings.

Former Karnataka Minister, Janardhan Reddy is already in CBI custody facing charges of illegal mining and encroachments.
