CBI raids houses of Janardhan Reddy

A 30 member CBI squad raided the houses of Karnataka Ministers Janardhan Reddy, Karunakara Reddy and Sriramulu in Bellary today. Andhra Pradesh Government had recommended CBI enquiry against Obalapuram Mining Company owned by the ministers for illegal mining. Throughout the day, CBI team continued to scrutinize documents and other records seized during the raids on ministers’ offices, business interests and residences in Bellary, 270 kms away from Bangalore. Earlier in the day, CBI questioned Janardhan Reddy and Sreeramulu. Reacting to the raids, Janardhan Reddy accused the Congress party of using CBI against the BJP government in Karnataka. The Reddy brothers have mining interests in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and fighting several cases in Supreme Court regarding mining.<br/>
