CBI raids: BJP seeks apology from Kejriwal for using derogatory words against PM

BJP has demanded an apology from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for using derogatory words against Prime Minister after CBI raided the office of Principal Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, such comments are totally uncalled for, unwarranted and shameful.

Mr. Prasad reminded that just a few days back, CBI caught Delhi government's Principal Secretary on corruption charges and Kejriwal government tried to take credit for it. Mr Prasad said, now Mr. Kejriwal is leveling accusations against the same CBI. He said, this is a clear case of double standards and hypocrisy. Mr. Prasad said, CBI's raid came after proper search warrant from the court.

He implored that the CBI must be allowed to conduct its investigation in a free and fair manner and according to law, there is no need for the Central agency to seek permission before carrying out any raid.

Congress has alleged that the CBI is working under pressure of the government. Reacting to the alleged raids at the office of Chief Minister of Delhi, Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said his party condemns the raids. Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Singhvi wondered why CBI conducted raids all of a sudden when the case pertains to the past.
When asked that Mr Kejriwal used indecent remarks against the Prime Minister, Mr Singhvi termed it as unwarranted saying one should avoid making such comments.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has termed CBI's clarification on the raid as a blatant lie and said the central agency should have raided the Education Department and not the Chief Minister's office. Speaking to media yesterday evening, he said, the CBI was actually looking for a file on Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) where there are irregularities. Mr. Kejriwal also questioned why CBI is not interrogating other officers and the Ministers in the Sheila Dikshit government if it wants to know about allocations in 2007.
