CBI questions Amit Shah in 2006 fake encounter case

The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI on day questioned former Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Amit Shah in New Delhi in connection with the 2006 fake encounter of Tulsiram Prajapati. Prajapati was a key witness in Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi's murder case.

Prajapati was killed in a shootout near Chapri village in Banaskantha district on December 28, 2006. He was a close aide of Sohrabuddin. The CBI took over the case last April following direction from the Supreme Court.

AIR correspondent quoting official sources reports that Mr. Shah, already named in the chargesheet by the CBI, for alleged conspiracy of killing Sohrabuddin, arrived at the agency's headquarters this morning and was extensively quizzed.

Mr. Shah has also been asked by the Supreme Court not to enter Gujarat as the agency alleged that he may tamper with the evidence or intimidate witnesses.
