The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has strongly opposed the discharge applications moved by former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and his elder brother Kalanithi Maran in the telephone exchange case. <br/><br/>The CBI contended that a chargesheet was filed against them and other accused after a thorough investigation and supporting evidences. The CBI insisted that the discharge applications moved by the duo should be dismissed. <br/><br/>According to the premier investigative agency, Dayanidhi Maran had misused his position as a Union telecom minister from June 2004 to December 2006 and had installed a private telephone exchange at his residences in Chennai and used it for business transactions involving Sun Network causing a loss of Rs.1.78 crore to the Exchequer.
