CBI officials have initiated the process of filing charge sheet in Adarsh scam in the Bombay High Court today.Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court today adjourned the hearing on Adarsh housing society scam after Ministry of Defence objected Maharashtra government’s stand that land of Adarsh building belonged to them. The court asked Ministry of Defence to respond within two weeks to the state government’s stand that CBI cannot probe Adarsh scam.
Maharashtra Government on Tuesday filed an affidavit in the Bombay High Court saying that there was no need of CBI investigation in the Adarsh Housing Society scam. The affidavit said that the CBI had no jurisdiction over the case as the judicial commission appointed by Maharashtra government has already submitted a report stating that the land where the Adarsh building stands belongs to the state government and not the Defence Ministry. It further said that as the land belongs to the state, the power of investigation lies with the state police.
