Former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s sons and son-in-law were summoned by the CBI in Bangalore today.
Sources say the CBI interrogated them regarding the ‘donation for mining favour scam, that had been revealed by the Lokayuktha report on illegal mining.
Subsequently the Supreme Court had appointed the Central Empowerment Committee to probe the matter and entrusted the enquiry to the CBI. The apex court has asked the CBI to complete investigation in three months.
It is charged that Yeddyurappa’s sons bought denotified land in Bangalore for Rs 20 lakh and sold it to South West mining company for Rs 20 crore.
It is also alleged that the company paid kickback to Prerna Trust, run by Yeddyurappa’s sons, in return for favours in the mining sector.
