CBI files third chrgesheet in UP NRHM scam

In Uttar Pradesh, the CBI on Thursday filed its third charge sheet in the multi crore alleged scam in the implementation of Nation Rural Health Mission NRHM in the state. Charge sheet has been filed at Lucknow based special court of CBI.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that in this charge sheet CBI has included three persons including a Managing Director of state owned Public sector Unit and two private suppliers. They had supplied Computers and medical equipments to the health department under NRHM fund. Allegations have been made against GK Batra, and Virender Goel from NOIDA and Neeraj Upadhyay from Lucknow in this charge sheet. The CBI has said that a wrongful loss of about 2 crores 80 lakhs rupees was caused and the said amount was allegedly misappropriated by accused persons.A Preliminary Enquiry was earlier registered by CBI on the orders of the Allahabad High Court Lucknow Bench, to enquire into the affairs of State Health Society, SIFSA, IEC Bureau, KGMU, UNOPS and others.As an outcome of the Preliminary Enquiry, a regular case was registered, in the matter relating to alleged irregularities in the purchase of 951 computers and peripherals out of NRHM funds.GK Batra the then Managing Director, Shreetron India Ltd, a state PSU was arrested by the CBI in the month of January. He is lodged at Dasna jail in Ghaziabad. The probe agency has said that further investigation is continuing into the larger conspiracy aspect.
