CBI files its first chargesheet against 9 including Raja

CBI has filed its first charge sheet in the 2G spectrum scam case against nine people including former telecom Minister A Raja and three private companies. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, CBI spokesperson, Dharini Mishra said that they have been chargesheeted under various provisions of IPC including cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy and under the Prevention of Corruption Act. She said that the CBI has found substantive offences in issuing New Access Service License and subsequent issuance of 2G spectrum allocation. In its over 80,000 page chargesheet, the CBI has stated that the 2G spectrum scam caused a loss of over 30,980 crore rupees to the exchequer. The chargesheet has named 125 witnesses and mentioned 654 documents.
